Second Milers also read — Ephesians 1 — 3 ; Psalms 26 — 30 ; Proverbs 6. The people of God have seriously abandoned the will of God; and have turned to other gods. They have forsaken the One who gave them their land, and all of their prosperity. God has already judged to no avail; but He promises that more judgment is coming because the people simply refuse to turn back to Him. I Looked For A Man To Stand In The Gap
Question: "What does it mean to stand in the gap Ezekiel ? A wall was the best means of protection in ancient times. A breach in the wall would let the enemy through. If there was a breach in the wall, defenders would have to swarm to that location and hold the breach. The gap would need to be repaired as soon as possible.
If a breach was left unattended or unrepaired, the city would fall. Ezekiel 22 summarizes the sins and abuses of the nation. So I will pour out my wrath on them and consume them with my fiery anger, bringing down on their own heads all they have done, declares the Sovereign Lord. God searched for such a defender, but He could find none.
Since no one was available or willing to defend the breach and rebuild the wall, judgment fell. Similar wording is found in Psalm This psalm summarizes the sins of Israel in the wilderness, primarily concerning the golden calf. Moses had been chosen for that very purpose. Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation. Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people.
No one interceded for Israel. With no intercessor to stand in the gap, the destruction of Israel would be carried out. To make matters worse, in Ezekiel 13, the false prophets in Israel are condemned because they had not repaired the breach in the wall. Instead of standing in the gap, they simply denied that judgment was going to come. In Genesis 18 Abraham intercedes for Sodom.
Stephen prayed for those stoning him Acts In the New Testament, we are told to pray for others 1 Timothy He still seeks those who will stand in the gap for friends and family, for people groups and nations. Like Abraham and Moses, we should be willing to stand in the gap, asking God to spare and to save.

Who Qualifies to Stand in the Gap for a World in Need?
Scripture: Ezekiel Denomination: Church Of God. Text: Ezekiel What a powerful powerful verse of scripture.
His father was a sluicer , that is, a man whose business it was to open and close the sluices, or large oaken gates, that are placed at regular distances across the entrances of the canals, to regulate the amount of water that shall flow into them. The sluicer raises the gates more or less according to the quantity of water required, and closes them carefully at night, in order to avoid all possible danger of an oversupply running into the canal, or the water would soon overflow it and inundate the surrounding country. As a great portion of Holland is lower than the level of the sea, the waters are kept from flooding the land only by means of strong dikes, or barriers, and by means of these sluices, which are often strained to the utmost by the pressure of the rising tides. Even the little children in Holland know that constant watchfulness is required to keep the rivers and ocean from flooding the country, and that a moment's neglect of the sluicer's duty may bring ruin and death to all. One lovely autumn afternoon, when the boy was about eight years old, he obtained his parents' consent to carry some cakes to a blind man who lived out in the country, on the other side of the dike. The little fellow started on his errand with a light heart, and having spent an hour with his grateful old friend, he bade him farewell and started on his homeward walk.
